April 27th, 2012, might well be a lucky day for Bollywood as the day could go down as one marking the release of the first biggie of 2012. One could give the credit for this multi & big starrer action movie to director Priyadarshan, who is known for releasing one big movie a year. 'Tezz' stars two big guys - Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor- along with two Tier 2 females - Sameera Reddy and Kangana Ranaut - to shoulder this extraordinarily exciting action thriller. Though similar to several foreign movies likes of 'Speed', 'The Bullet Train' or 'Monster Express', it's not a copy of any of them. Aptly titled 'Tezz' (Speed), the film might really press the buttons for thrill seekers. 'Tezz' doesn't have competition from the other flop flick to hit the screens this weekend 'Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi'.

The 'Tezz' story is about a team of Asians headed by Aakash Rana played by Ajay Devgun. They place a bomb on a bullet train running between London and Glasgow. An anonymous threat call warns the authorities that if the train decelerates or loses speed below 60 kmph, it will be destroyed along with 500 passengers on board. On demand is a huge ransom, but the government is opposed to it. Arjun Khanna played by Anil Kapoor is the Counter Terrorism Commander who has just retired. As he readies to board his flight to India along with his wife and daughter, he is asked for 'just one more day', to help negotiate with the terrorist. At the same time, there is a sharp difference of opinion between the police and the railway authorities' about solving the problem. The police want to prevent an explosion, the railway authorities are more concerned at the safety of passengers.

Aakash is not a hardcore terrorist, but a victim of the system and determined to get back at it for taking away his innocence and jeopardizing his family. He didn't possess the documents - like a work permit for UK and was therefore deported, his marriage with Kangana Ranaut questioned and his accounts frozen! He was unaware of his wife and child's whereabouts until he meets them again. Had his wife responded to the emails, Devgn wouldn't have planted the bomb. Devgn and Anil are pitted against each other and time. Lives could be devastated unless Ajay Devgn helps defuse the bomb or Counter Terrorism Command Arjun Khanna succeeds in catching bomber Devgn. Zayed playing Adil and Sameera Reddy playing Megha turn criminals for Devgn as the latter had helped both of them when they had no documents to work in the UK.

Director Priyadarshan has very judiciously chosen the lead cast. Ajay Devgn is known as an action hero and Anil Kapoor is equally well versed with this genre. Significantly, Gareth Milne and Peter Pedrero of the 'Harry Potter' and 'Deathly Hollows' fame have directed these two biggies to play stunts. Both foreign trainers also oversee stunts by the female cast, especially Sameera Reddy who is very excited with her performance as a bar dancer and Kangana Ranault as Devgn's wife. Ajay's performance is superb. Anil excels throughout his role. Mohanlal is extraordinary as a Scotland Yard cop. Boman Irani as the chief of the train and father of a girl passenger is phenomenally brilliant. Avika Gor as Boman Irani's daughter plays well too. The Sajid-Wajid duo provides appropriate music score. Choreography is fascinating as it captures the cities of the United Kingdom with all their beauty. The depiction of chase sequences is done terrifically. The Mallika Sherawat track 'Laila' gels well.

Overall, the movie is a fantastic action thriller.
