Cricket drew all attention and Bollywood lost eyeballs and screens all of March 2011. And, Bollywood's return after a month on Friday, April 1, 2011, lacked luster. Abhishek Bachchan starrer 'Game' drew a blank and you can't blame it on cricket or Dhooni or Sachin. The much hyped 'Game' after Abhi's two recent flops showed that the Bachchan scion failed yet again to create magic. In fact, the other flick, 'F.A.L.T.U', releasing the same day seems set to stand a better prospect at the box office.

The story of 'Game' has Anupam Kher playing a billionaire by the name Kabir Malhotra who owns an island in Greece but isn't a happy man. His two daughters show him no affection. He loses Sarah Jane Dias in a car accident. His second daughter Shahan Goswami hates him for having been abandoned by him. She doesn't know who her father is. Kher invites nightclub owner Abhishek Bachchan, journalist Shahana Goswami, Bollywood superstar played by Jimmy Shergill, and corrupt politico Boman Irani.

Upon arrival on the island the four are received by Kher's assistant Samara played by Gauhar Khan. Samara is daughter of Kher's twin brother who has been in hospital feigning seriously ill. Anupam informs his guests that he's been plotting their downfall for three years now as each one of them is guilty in some way for his daughter's ill luck. Before Anupam can disclose the names of those who are responsible and how, he is killed. Chief investigating officer Kangna Ranaut has to figure out the guilty. 'Game' is filmed on a very long script that just doesn't connect well because of a convoluted plot. What complicates the plot at the end is that the killer is Anupam Kher's twin brother.

In analysis, neither the content nor its other features stand on strong legs. It might well be a sheer waste of industry's top artists - Javed Akhtar's lyrics, Shankar Ehsaan Loy's music and an otherwise good producer Farhan Akhtar. Top star cast like Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Kangna Ranaut seem to have been wasted. Jimmy Shergill and Shahana Goswami had no scope to prove their mettle. Althea Delmas Kaushal just didn't cut it with a script that isn't cohesive. Most all characters' roles are beyond comprehension. While Abhishek and Anupam make a valiant attempt at shouldering movie, they can only do so much. Debutant director Abhinay Deo, who has directed Aamir Khan's yet to be released 'Delhi Belly', is equally not at fault. Though, he can be credited for a slick and polished style. Technically speaking, the cinematography is excellent in capturing the locales of Istanbul, London and Greece.

Overall, it might be a thriller for some to watch!
