August 17, 2012
New Delhi, Aug 17 (ANI): The much awaited CAG report on coal block allocation was tabled in the Parliament today. According to CAG Rs 1.86 lakh crore is likely to amass to private coal block allottees due to allocation made without competitive bidding. The initial draft had estimated the losses caused to the government to be close to Rs 10.7 lakh crore. The coal blocks were allocated between 2004 and 2009. CAG in its final report has said that the bidding process was vitiated by allowing Reliance Power to use excess coal from three blocks allocated to Sasan project. Meanwhile, BJP Spokesperson, Rajiv Pratap Rudy slammed the Congress-led central government demanding an answer on the scam.
