August 22, 2012
New Delhi/ Kolkata / Lucknow, Aug 22 (ANI): Unions at banks across the country representing about one million employees have called for a nationwide two-day strike today, to protest against reform proposals that would ease mergers and allow more foreign and private capital into the sector. Secretary General of National Organisation of Bank Workers, Ashwani Rana clearly defined the reasons and issues behind the strike. The strike would affect 70,000 bank branches of state-run and some private and foreign banks including the country's biggest lender, State Bank of India.
