'Gangs of Wassepur' (GoW) Part 2 was rescheduled to August 8th, 2012, release, leaving the usual Friday (August 10th, 2012) almost a blank in terms of good Bollywood releases in India. Though there were 3 more movies to release, 'Overtime' directed by Ajay Yadav was one of them. The movie has some known actors like Yashpal Sharma, Satish Kaushik and Zakir Hussain, among others, but it lacks story and content. It is perhaps the reason why the movie did not make it to the theaters despite several attempts in the past. Bollywood is inundated with sexy and violent movies these days.
'Overtime' is about a girl's dream to become a heroine in India's tinsel town. But in the process she becomes a victim of all kinds of evil. She finally ends up becoming a high profile sex worker, shattering all hopes of becoming a heroine! Khushi played by Swati Sharma is a wanna-be heroine who is exploited on the casting couch at every step. She tells her first exploiter that her name is 'Overtime' for that's what her exploiters use as an excuse to tell their wives why they are late or not coming home. Khushi is victimized by politician minister Aatre played by ace actor Satish Kaushik, a builder played by Yashpal Sharma, an architect Rajeev played by Zakir Hussain and even film co-coordinator Shankar played by Vijay Raj. All of them bed her at a cost of Rs 20,000, calling the act as 'Overtime'. The movie ends in Khushi getting frustrated.
This movie just lacks in pretty much every aspect. The story and screenplay are poor which does not help an otherwise experienced and talented cast. So, the actors fail to impress and are simply wasted. What a pity. The movie is worth a skip.
