Soccer player dies after collapsing on pitch

Jalpaiguri, July 10 (ANI): Lack of infrastructure and medical aid to football players at the grassroot level led to another death on the pitch. Twenty three year-old Mahesh Thapa died after colliding with the opposing team’s goalkeeper, while playing a local tournament in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. Postmortem reports later revealed that Thapa suffered a cardiac arrest. Thapa, was rushed to a local hospital after collapsing on the field, but was denied admission as all beds at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) were already occupied.
